Mi presento: mi chiamo Valeria, ho da qualche tempo superato i vent’anni, sono nata a Bari. I’m going to introduce myself: my name is Valeria, I am about twenty years old, I was born in Bari.
I’m so Italian. I wanna say that I’m Italian and terribly proud of being. I know it may seem strange at this time, but I unconditionally love my country and I couldn’t be born anywhere else in the world except in Italy. Tellin’ you the truth, I’m not 100% Italian ‘cause a quarter of my blood is Greek and in fact my face doesn’t fully represent Italy .Anyone who has met me for the first time told me the impression to find in me foreign characters. But I can’t tell you how much this has influenced my way of being myself.
I use to have different periods in my life. For example for a period I go crazy for everything is from Bari, pictures, works, writings, people, traditions, etc… And suddenly I change point of view.
In un periodo della mia vita ho amato l’arredamento in stile etnico, in un altro quello classico, recentemente quello moderno… attualmente sto studiando ed innamorandomi dell’arredamento in stile spagnolo. For a period of my life I loved the furnishing in ethnic style, in another one classic style, recently the modern one… I’m currently studying Spanish-style furnishings and I’m falling in love with it.
Obviously my birthplace influences my actions and my point of view. But it’s also true that I love Naples and everything is from there, and above all the place I love most in the world and where I wanna live is Capri! However, lately I didn’t think too much to Capri ‘cause since August I’m in my American period and so I’m going crazy for everything’s from America. Why is it so strange? Well, I have always, always hated America, Americans, American habits, American way of life, pro-Americans. And then, one day in midsummer, I woke up with a visceral desire to visit United States and with an unimaginable sympathy and interest for all American things. Nello specifico, da quando ho iniziato a scrivere, sto ascoltando di continuo “Love to see you cry”. And givin’ you another example, in summer I used to listen to Frank Sinatra continuosly for days and days, then I used to listen to Pussycat Dolls for one week, and since the second half of August, after a break of two years, I use to listen only to Enrique Iglesias and just a little to Radio Monte Carlo . Specifically, since I started writing, I’m listening continuously “Love to see you cry.” This is just to try to make you understand what “periods” are in my life.
Currently I’m torn between American period and the Spanish one.
For a long time I thought that I wanted a very quite life, I was convinced that the few kilometers that make up this city would have been enough for me, didn’t realizing that my inner turmoil wouldn’t have been appeased by the tranquility and safety of the daily routine. Now I know that I abhor all of this. Now I know that restlessness which leads me to be in Madrid, and then in Miami, and then in Las Vegas, and then in Rio de Janeiro is simply something I can live with and that it may be my salvation as well as my downfall. 😀 If I had the chance I would leave at the very moment I feel going in a particular place in the world, without loss of time getting organized.
In reality I couldn’t travel so freely around the world ‘cause I’ve a phobia (obviously I wont tell you which one) since I was four years old, or sooner. But lately, I’m almost able to live with it, and only God knows how much I wanna overcome it (until a few years ago I got around the obstacle).
This is not a fashion blog, not a food blog, not a books blog, or anything else. Simply I’ve always written. Of course in some periods more then in others, but it’s probably one of the few things I use to do since twenty years ago until now. So I thought it would be very interesting sharing a little of my thoughts with stranger people who think in a completely different way from mine and then discuss our views (I love discussing!). By now I was feeling the need for some time already, but the final push was given by my cousin Roberta’s message a few weeks ago.
Anyway, this should have been only a short introduction of myself, but as you’ll see, when I start writing I have trouble stop.
